

Renard Fredrick Scruggs, 66, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on December 14, 2013. He was born to Willie Mae Hurt (Lee) and Clarence Scruggs as the second child of eight on April 13, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. Renard graduated from Assumption Catholic High School where he received a football scholarship to college and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an MP. Renard was a foreman at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals in St. Louis, qualified as an expert pipe fitter, machinist, and HVAC specialist, who used his vast knowledge to mentor his workforce. He and Joyce Scruggs, his wife of 40 years, moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in February of 2010 to fulfill a dream of moving out west. Renard was a loving husband and delightful father, who had a welcoming smile and soft eyes that put anyone at ease. He loved sports of all kinds; especially football. He was an easy going individual, who loved to converse and socialize with people; and was a very giving person who would do whatever he could to help those in need. Renard is survived by his wife, Joyce; children: Wynette, Sean, Evan and Jason; grandchildren: Brian, Cameron, Joshua and those yet to come; and siblings: Katie, Sherry, Gail, Deborah, Dennis, Dwayne, and Anthony. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 20, 2013 with a brief visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, at Palm Northwest Mortuary located at 6701 N. Jones, Las Vegas, NV 89131. Burial will follow at Palm Northwest Cemetery. A memorial service in East St. Louis, Illinois will be held at 12:00 PM on December 28, 2013 at St. Augustine of the Hippo Catholic Church.
