

LT. COL. RICHARD FLEITZ U.S.Air Force, Retired Richard Allyn Fleitz, 78, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 16, 2011. He was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Cincinnati, the son of William R. and Luella M. Fleitz. Dick was an accomplished athlete at Newark High School, where he lettered in four sports and later graduated from the ROTC program at Ohio University in 1952. Dick was a career officer in the U.S. Air Force and served his country with distinction completing two tours in Vietnam, where he flew approximately 250 missions. He received the Silver Star, The Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. He retired in 1978 and enjoyed his retirement playing golf and hustling money from his friends. Dick married Mary Virginia Fulks of Frazeysburg, Ohio in 9153. He was preceded in death by his brother, William R. Fleitz Jr. of Granville, Ohio. Dick is survived by his brother, John M. Fleitz; his three sons, Jeffrey Allyn, Stephen Scott and Randy Gregg; his four grandchildren, Caitlin Mary, Erika Lynn, Coleman Alexander and Grayson Blake Fleitz.
