

Richard, (whom also went by Dick), was born April 20, 1939 in Seward, Nebraska, to Ruth and Erwin Schlueter. He attended Seward High School and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1961 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He later received an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Richard enlisted in the Army and was placed at Fort Ord, California. He was Honorably Discharged in 1967 as a decorated Marksman.
He began his engineering career in the nuclear power division at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California. He then moved to San Francisco to work for Bechtel Power Corporation, and later transferred to Bechtel Nevada in Las Vegas until his retirement.
In San Francisco, he met Mireille Joyce Couesnon. They married in 1970 and had a son, Christophe and daughter, Marielle. Eventually, Richard became grandfather to Joseph, Marlowe and Mila.
Richard had many interests including abalone diving, skiing, and collecting coins, stamps and books. He was a member of the Las Vegas Numismatic Society, a member of the Saint Francis Hook & Ladder of the San Francisco Fire Department, a Director of the Godfather’s Club and many other organizations.
He will be missed by his family and friends and the stories they shared.
Richard is survived by his sister Mureen Schlueter of San Francisco, his brother Tom and wife Susie Schlueter & family of Seward, Nebraska, Mireille and Christophe Schlueter of San Francisco, Marielle, Joseph, Marlowe and Mila Ritchie of Pennsylvania, Sophia Costoso and many friends in Las Vegas, and many more cousins and friends.
