Bob was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic Prostate Cancer in the spring of 2018. On 2/19/2022 he entered in-home hospice. On Friday, March 4, 2022, Bob passed away surrounded by his loving family that he treasured more than life itself.
Bob and his wife Nancy of 49 years, 4 months, 18 days of wedded bliss, shared a devout life together and always felt that they were partners in crime, chaos, and mayhem. Their marriage took them on adventures from Upstate New York, CT, RI, CA, WA until they settled in North Las Vegas. Their Roman Catholic Faith carried them through the good times, the bad times, the rock 'n roll times and the Jive Turkey Thanksgiving times. Their faith in God, themselves and each other helped them to raise two sons. The eldest of the Gordon boys, Robert E Gordon, went on to a career in IT and the younger son, Jason B Gordon, had a distinguished and honorable career in the US Air Force and is now retired. Both sons are married and have children of their own.
Bob loved his wife, his family, his friends, and music. He was a carpenter at heart, a millwright, (without the certification) and overall mechanical fabrication expert. He had the innate ability to take ideas and turn them into functioning prototypes. His conceptualization skills were second to none. He started out as a grocery store employee, turned milk man, then carpenter, and eventually focused on a career as a machinist rather than carpenter. Do not be fooled by the twist in his career. His loving wife had other plans, more like a never ending to do list that now sits unfinished. From houses, bathrooms, cabinets, bed sets, bookcases, and full tables, his love of carpentry allowed him to have his own small business later in life. Some of his tables turned into unique works that even Dr. Frankenstein would be envious of. During this time of small business ownership he also made US Flag Display cases for the families of fallen active-duty service members and veterans alike. This simple act of craftmanship help bring peace to these family members.
He was a former member of the Kirkland Kiwanis Club in Kirkland, WA. As a club member he was a volunteer, a member of the K-Club Band, and also made tree carts for the annual Christmas Tree lot that the club ran. He made additional items that assisted the club in their fundraising efforts.
Bob and his buddy, Don Lee, also loved preforming in their two-man band at the Del Mar Fair (now known as the San Diego County Fair) all the way down into the Tuesday Night Cars and Music in National City, CA. They also performed at local restaurants in Chula Vista and Old Town. Robert also was part of various church choirs, where he played guitar and vocals. He had a collection of guitars that were the envy of any young wanna be rock ‘n roller.
At the end of the day, he was a fisherman at heart. He especially loved the tiems he spent fishing with his sons and grandsons. He loved spending time with family and friends fishing and sharing fish tales that would make a fair maiden blush.
He was kind.
He was fun and funny.
He was talented.
He was dad.
May he rest in eternal peace as we pray for the repose of his soul.
