

Robert Bratton Patterson, age 84, passed away at 2:08 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital - Sienna Campus, in Henderson. The cause of death was a ruptured aneurysm, which occurred while he was enjoying his favorite activity, bowling with his close friends in a league, and just as he'd once confided to them, he "went with his bowling shoes on." Bob, or "Brachie" as he was known to family and close friends, was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Joplin, Mo., to Samuel Houston Patterson and Martell Lynn Patterson (Robinson). He married Laurann Greninger Oct. 17, 1947, and they were married for 49 years, until her death Feb. 24, 1997. He is survived by one daughter, Vicky Lynn McNew of Arizona City, Ariz.; two sons, David Robert Patterson of South Gate, Calif., and Samuel Allen Patterson of Tempe, Ariz.; two sons-in-law, Paul N. Miskey of Las Vegas, and Don McNew of Arizona City; two daughters-in-law, Diane Patterson of South Gate and Cathy Patterson of Tempe; eight grandchildren, Laurann and Dana McNew of California, Charlie and Victoria Patterson, Timothy and Thomas Miskey of Las Vegas, Kelly and Melanie Patterson of Tempe; and one great-grandchild, Cameron Petricca of California. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Ann Miskey; and two older brothers, William Leslie Patterson and Arthur Welding Patterson. He was a World War II era U.S. Navy veteran, having served in San Diego, and Guam as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Third (AMM3), from January 1946 to November 1947, and he received the World War II Victory Medal. He worked as a service man for Farmer Brothers Coffee in Las Vegas for 24 years, until his retirement in 1989. He was a founding member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Las Vegas, and faithfully served and attended for more than 40 years. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3975 S. Sandhill Road, in Las Vegas. Burial will be at 2 p.m., Friday, May 11, with military honors, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
