Robert Bailey Wofford Jr., affectionately called "Junior" by his family and friends, transitioned peacefully on the morning of 12/17/16 . He was surrounded by his loving family and caregivers during his last days. Robert Jr. was born on 6/13/1948 to the parentage of Robert Bailey Wofford Sr. and Callie Wofford. He was the younger of two children which included his older sister Lillie Bell. Robert Jr.'s parents placed him and his sister, Lillie, in God's care at a young age. He was baptized and became a member of Bethlehem Primitive Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as the pianist for many years. In his latter years Robert Jr. became a deacon under the tutelage of his Pastor and mentor Bobby Skinner. Robert Jr. was blessed with two children by his first wife (Phyllis Scott); a daughter, Pondra and son, Paul. He later married second wife Jeanette Cooper and they were blessed with a daughter; Tanya, and son Crispian Cooper.
With his passing comes the end of a bloodline of Wofford's. He is the last. In Robert Jr.'s transition from birth to eternal rest he encountered many struggles; but even until the last day he was "convinced" of his salvation and professed his love for God. As he enters into rest ,free of all struggles, we are reminded of God's promise in Romans 8:38-39: 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Robert Jr. leaves this life to join his wife Jeanette; son Paul; parents, Robert Bailey Sr. and Callie Wofford; sister, Lillie Bell; nephew, Rex "Bubba" Crear; grandparents; Aunt Berthenia Davis; Uncle Harlee Sr., and other loved ones that have gone before him.
He leaves behind two daughters, Pondra Canty (Kenneth Canty) of Las Vegas and Tanya Whitaker of Dallas; grandson, Paul Hill; granddaughters Tavia Hill and Zariya Steptoe;
cousins Harlee "HL" Dewberry and Bobby Jean; niece, Michele Crear; special cousin, Larry Cofer, and faithful friends, Butch and Kathy Evans, and many loving great nephews; great nieces, and a host of family and friends.
