
Ron Lawson age 80 died on April 28 2019 while playing golf the game he loved. Ron originally from Lima, Ohio where he graduated from Lima Senior high school in 1957. Ron excelled as pitcher in baseball and as a quarterback playing football. In 1959 he married Ida Strasburg (wife for 59 years). Ron started his career at the Ford Motor Engine plant in Lima. While working at Ford he attended night class and graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1973. Ron became the accounting supervisor at Ford and was able to retire at the age of 54.
Ron and Ida had three children Ron Lawson JR (Rockford, MI) Cheryl Lawson (Lima, Ohio) and Tina Lawson (Las Vegas, NV).
After early retirement from Ford, Ron started a business Lawson Tax and Accounting service. In 1998 he sold the business and moved to Las Vegas. Once in Las Vegas, he and Ida started living in Sun City, a golf and retirement community. Ron played golf and softball and spent time in the community wood shop.
Ron made no secret that he was an avid Buckeye Fan and had his golf cart detailed to represent his enthusiasm. Ron and Ida made many friends in their new community, and spent time going out to dinner with friends, attending shows and gambling. They traveled around the county visiting friends and family, also enjoyed many cruises in the Caribbean and Alaska.
Ron’s passion for golf was overridden by his love for his three children, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also had a great love for his rescue dog, Peaches. Ron made an impact on the family as he welcomed new members. Ron was always willing to lend a hand for a project, offer his advice or just give you support. Special attention was always given to the grand kids and great grand kids. Time spent throwing a ball, telling stories of his adventures as a kid, teaching golf and holding babies.
Ron had a life well lived.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 4th at The Summit restaurant located at the Eagle Crest golf course from 3-5pm.
A Celebration of Life will also take place in Lima, OH at a later date this year.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the dog rescue where Peaches was adopted.
