Ronald Eugene Shaver, 67, of Las Vegas, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017. He was born January 22, 1950, to Edward and Carol Shaver in Norwood, Massachusetts, and he was a 46 year resident of Las Vegas. Ron served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and went on to serve in the Army Reserves and the National Guard. He was the definition of an American Patriot. In 1977, he married the love of his life, Camille Shaver, and celebrated 40 years together in August. In 1982, he received his PhD in Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and worked in many fields of law enforcement and counseling, retiring in 2011. He enjoyed his retirement the only way he knew how, by working as a Marriage and Family and Clinical Professional Counselor. Despite his numerous professional accolades, he was first a man of faith and family, serving his family and his LDS religion with vigor and compassion. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Carol Shaver; sister, Michelle Landry, and brother, John Shaver. He is survived by his wife, Camille; daughters, Kristi Olsen-Mangels and Stephanie Budoff; sister, Cheryl Goldman, and grandchildren, Jordan Olsen, Mikayla Olsen, Isabella Mangels, and Dani Budoff. He was a man of many hobbies and had a profound love for music and the outdoors. His children grew up falling asleep to Eric Clapton on the guitar most nights. He was also an avid story teller and expert in sarcasm and witty banter. Our loss is felt far and wide as he touched so many lives. Funeral service will be held Tues, 8/22, 10:00am at the LDS Church, 9830 Elkhorn Rd., Las Vegas, followed by burial at 12:00pm at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City.
