

She is preceded in death by her son, Charles Allen Davis, and is survived by her daughter, Victoria A. Franklin Davis. Amber leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Jessica N. Licklider, Olivia S. Licklider, Christina A. Davis, and Nadine A. Davis. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her.
Amber is also survived by daughter-in-law Angelique P. Davis; former daughter-in-law Lisa M. Davis; former son-in-law David Licklider; and former husbands Charles Albert Davis of Port Huron, Mi and William Flaxa of Las Vegas, Nv. Amber also left behind her beloved African Gray Parrot, Cosmo, who was a constant companion who brought her joy and comfort throughout her years.
Amber’s life was rich with experience and dedication. As a young woman, she was an active Navy military spouse and a proud member of Navy Wives Club of America and CPO Wives Club in Kodiak, Alaska. Traveling extensively across the United States and abroad with her then-husband Charles Davis. Amber embraced each new place with enthusiasm.
A graduate of Port Huron High School in 1958, Amber pursued further education at Honolulu Beauty College in Hawaii before completing her training at Port Huron School of Beauty Culture in Michigan. She continued her studies at the College of Lake Community College in Illinois, earning certification in interior decoration. Additional academic pursuits included general education and psychology at Clark County Community College of Southern Nevada and Kodiak Community College.
Amber enjoyed a successful 40-year career as a cosmetologist and beauty professional. She served as an instructor and State Board Examiner for the State of Nevada. Amber was known for her expertise in color correction—a skill they often described as nothing short of miraculous. She was a proud member of the National Association of Cosmetology Schools –Alpha Sigma Chi.
Her passions extended beyond the beauty salon. Amber was a member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress and participated in leagues across the country. Her hobbies included horseback riding, sewing, baking—especially decorating cakes—and preparing her signature extra-cheesy goulash. She found joy in farming and canning produce from her farm in Port Huron and took pride in being actively involved in her children’s lives.
In the early 1970s, following a divorce, Amber relocated to Las Vegas where she became deeply involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a member of the 13th Ward. There she worked with the LDS Employment Office as both counselor and secretary for several years.
As a long-time resident of Las Vegas for over five decades, Amber witnessed the city’s remarkable transformation. She delighted in its vibrant culture—from Elvis performances at the Hilton to boxing matches at Caesars Palace—and cherished outings to Lake Mead or dancing at the Showboat Hotel.
Later in life, Amber embraced spiritual work as an advisor and counselor and was affiliated with the Las Vegas Spiritual Life Center. Whether walking through parks with Cosmo perched on her shoulder or attending school events for her grandchildren, Amber found fulfillment in being present for those she loved.
Amber was known for her generosity of spirit—always ready to lend a hand or offer comforting words. Whether caring for someone during illness or slipping a few dollars into a birthday card, she gave selflessly. Her presence brought warmth to every room, often punctuated by laughter or one of her favorite reminders: “Just keep smiling.”
Her daughter Victoria extends heartfelt gratitude to the family, friends, healthcare providers, nurses, and physicians who compassionately supported Amber during her final days.
Amber Ashlee Carrington will be remembered as a resilient soul whose legacy is etched into the lives she touched—with kindness, strength, humor, and unwavering love. In her own words: “Keep trying, keep smiling, always love and forgive—always.”
