Surrounded by love and his immediate family, Samuel Marc Mabry, age 83, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 12th, 2025 after battling esophageal cancer and pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his Father: Samuel Junior Mabry, his Mother: Berenice Lucille Mabry, Brother: Edward Mabry, Sister: Gail McCreanor, and his former wife, Phyllis Culp Mabry. He is survived by his current wife, Lorraine Mabry and the entirety of his loving, blended family.
Born on April 13, 1942 in Glendale California, Marc grew up on the west coast and loved being outdoors. In his teen years, his family moved to Parma, Ohio, but Marc ultimately moved back to California to finish high school and graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1961. From August 16, 1963 though February 15, 1969, Marc served as a member of the United State Marine Corps and earned the rank of Sergeant (E-5). As a reservist, he was able to move back to Ohio and applied to The Parma Police Department where he was hired on 12/28/64.
Marc worked at the PPD for 30 years and held the roles of Patrolman, Motorcycle Officer, and Detective. During that time, he worked security detail for the Bingo Hall, earned his real estate license, and was a Zoning Inspector in Columbia Station. He also attended Cuyahoga Community College and earned his Associate of Applied Science for Law Enforcement (1981) and later attend Akron University and was just a semester shy of a 4 year degree in the Technical Education Teaching Program. Following retirement, he worked for Key Bank’s Corporate Security Team and then moved to Las Vegas where he held a variety of positions, including Security Supervisor for Caesars Palace.
While serving in the Marine Corps, he met and married his first wife, Phyllis and they had two children, Robin & Allison. He resided in Olmsted Falls, OH until around 1973 when Marc purchased Hidden Valley Farm in Columbia Station, where he lived until 1997. Following his amicable divorce from Phyllis, Marc met and married Lorraine in 1997 and they moved to Las Vegas the next day. Marc loved his farm in Ohio, but he loved the desert more and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle every morning that sometimes stretched into the afternoons. In addition, he loved to travel across the country in a motorhome. From taking his family across the country when his girls were young to traveling in his 70s and 80s to come back east and visit family, the open road has always called to Marc.
Samuel Marc Mabry was a dedicated husband and father. He served his country and the citizens of Parma. He had a smile that could light up a room and the truest of blue eyes that twinkled when he smiled. He was genuine and honest and would do anything he could to help the people he loved; he will be truly missed by those he left behind.
