

Savoyd “Sonny” Reynolds was born in Princeton, Arkansas on March 28, 1939 to Margie and Ollie Reynolds.
Sonny moved to Fordyce Arkansas and attended OE Wallace DCTS. He grew up in Oceanside California then relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1955, where he graduated from Las Vegas High School.
He worked with Las Vegas Dodge while attending school to become a telephone cable technician. Later, he was employed with Central Telephone Company, now CenturyLink, from 1968 until his retirement after 37 years.
Sonny lived a life marked by strength, independence and unconditional love. To his family, he was a steady foundation and a safe place. A devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle who gave everything. He often said, “You make my heart sing,” words that reflected the bond he shared with those he loved. He will be remembered as the best dad and human being, whose voice, laughter and wisdom will forever echo in the hearts of his family.
Besides the love for his family, Sonny loved to fish and was an avid bowler with quite a few 300s on this record.
He had two marital unions in which he had five children.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Ollie Reynolds and Horace Lawson. His sisters, Juanita Phillips, Linda Cannon and Clara Eden, brothers, Jerry and Lonnie Lawson. His son, Edward “Skeet” Shelton and bonus daughter, Lateria Neal.
Sonny leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Paula Reynolds, Porsha Reynolds-Walker and Latesa Reynolds. One son, Hurley Shelton and his wife Trese. Two sisters, Inez Harper and Brenda Cluff and two brothers, Terry Lawson (Lela) and Ronnie Lawson. Thirteen grandchildren, Kanesha Matlock, Jarren Shelton, Brandon Shelton, Justin Shelton, Jaylen Shelton, Phillip Shelton, Jerime Shelton, Anthony Shelton, DeAngelo Swift, Mark Porter, Jr., Devan Walker, Amari Walker and Torrie Walker, Jr. Sonny also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation for Savoyd will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A committal service will occur Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
