Shamiran Yousfi, 81, longtime Las Vegas resident and former resident of Chicago, Illinois, San Jose and Turlock, California, was born in Urmia, Iran, to Maryam and Joseph Lazar. She passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2026.
Shamiran is survived by her children, Natalie (Ninus), Tony (Misty), and her adored grandchildren, Christopher, Ansley, and Brinnley. She is also survived by her brother, Youbert Lazar (Bella), her sister Gnady Lazar; brothers-in-law Joseph Khoshabe, James Yousfi (Lida), and sister-in-law Karen Yousfi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jonsi H Yousfi, her son, Allen, brothers-in-law, Edward, George and Joseph, and her cherished sister-in-law, Sima. We will miss her warmth, generosity, hospitality and unmistakable energy and passion for life.
Shamiran grew up in a loving Christian home and studied in Presbyterian schools, even cheering on the cheerleading squad in high school. She was married to Youash Ishoo from 1964-1976, and had a daughter, Natalie and a son, Allen. She immigrated to the United States in 1971. She settled in Chicago and many of her family members followed in the years after. Later, Shamiran married Jonsi (Johnny) Yousfi , and they had one son, Tony. Shortly after he was born, they moved to Turlock and then settled in San Jose. For many years, she was a quality controller for EJ Gallo winery and years later got her cosmetology license and began a long successful career as a hairdresser in partnership with her loving sister, Gnady. In later years, she and Johnny moved to Las Vegas as their retirement destination, but she enjoyed many more years as a sought-after hairdresser, often with a waiting line! She spoke fondly about how much she enjoyed visiting with her clients and making them feel beautiful. Fearless in her work ethic, she built a reputation of honesty, integrity and excellence. She had a fervent love of the Lord, and a willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Shamy's love and warmth sparkled because of her grandchildren, Christopher, Ansley and Brinnley.
Her greatest joy came from family. Shamy truly had the gift of hospitality and loved hosting parties with grace and ease. She was an exceptional cook and hostess and everyone enjoyed being in her home. Shamy’s love was constant and unconditional. Even in times of personal pain, she continued to pray and give honor to the Lord. Her example of selflessness remains a lasting gift to all who knew her.
