

He was born October 5, 1943 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Edgar J. Rollins and Genevieve Alice Hannah Maxon. He met his wife of 56 years at Framingham State College on a blind date. They were married in Sandwich, Massachusetts on May 28, 1966.
Sidney receive a Bachelor of Education from Keene State College. He taught for a short time in Massachusetts and then worked various jobs throughout his life.
He loved to travel and especially enjoyed going to national parks with Yellowstone being one of his favorites. As a family, some of our fondest memories are road trips all over the country during which he shared and passed on his love for this beautiful world.
He was a great story teller. If he got “that glint” in his eye and a mischievous grin on his face, you knew he was about to share one of his many hilarious jokes.
He adored his wife and always found little ways to show her how much he loved her. They were always playing little pranks on each other and loved to hide things for the other to find later.
He taught his children how to be independent and among many things, made sure they knew how to make their own repairs, the best way to find things, and to do the best job you could, no matter the task.
He loved his granddaughter dearly and seeing her would always bring a smile to his face. She was his munchkin from the day he met her and was claimed by her early on when he was laying in the couch and she climbed up on him and hugged him tight.
He is survived by his wife, Gay; their daughter Elizabeth; their son, Brian; and granddaughter, Sydney. He is also survived by one sister, Anita. He was preceded in death by daughter Patricia, one sister, and several brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either the Nevada Diabetes Association (diabetesnv.org) or the National Park Foundation (nationalparks.org).
