Stan was born on October 3, 1954, in Swan River, Manitoba, to Cicely and Lyman Sadler. He was the second youngest of five children. He spent his early years moving between communities in Manitoba, attending school in Kenville (Grade 1), Morris (Grades 1–8), and Thompson (Grades 9–12). From an early age, he was a dedicated and determined individual. During his secondary education, Stan was committed to his studies. Though trying his hardest, Stan remained an average student. That all changed in high school, after his math teacher, Mr. Gohl, opened a scholarly world that forever changed his concept of learning. A keen academic curiosity and desire to learn were sparked in him. His growing enthusiasm for science eventually guided the direction of his future career.
His commitment to being present was equally matched by Stan’s perseverance and tenacity. He was especially proud of earning perfect attendance from Grade 1 to Grade 12, an achievement recognized by the Canadian government. If that feat wasn’t enough, he also had perfect attendance while earning his degree in pharmacy at the University of Manitoba. Stan excelled at badminton during his studies but chose to skip a tournament to maintain perfect attendance, showing consistent priorities.
Stan consistently pursued new challenges, engaging wholeheartedly in activities such as cycling, curling, canoeing, piano, golf, kayaking, hiking, etc., only to give them up after a couple of years and not look back. Once mastered, he immediately sought his next challenge. From a young age, he also had a hunger for money. Stan began working at the tender age of seven with his epic paper route in Morris, Manitoba. He shared many a tale of warming his frozen fingers in the middle of winter under a customer’s dryer vent. Stan’s money-earning exploits expanded in his early twenties. It was during the summers between semesters that Stan bootlegged alcohol while he worked in the bush in northern Manitoba, a money-losing venture before he took up selling drugs (legally). After graduating from university, Stan travelled through Europe before returning to Thompson to begin his career as a pharmacist.
Stan was never one to stop learning; after relocating to Calgary, Alberta in 1980, he started piano lessons and reached Grade 8 with the Royal Conservatory of Music within two years. Stan continued his education, moving to Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1984 to complete his associate degree as a Registered Nurse. While studying nursing, he met Corinne, forming a love and lifelong bond. His career took him to Merritt, British Columbia, in 1988. In 1991, Stan married Corinne and started his family, welcoming Chloe and Leah (his most perfect children) into the world. In 1993, they moved to Salmon Arm, British Columbia, and later welcomed Kenna and Michael (his most cherished children). His love for his four children was paramount and the driving force in his life. After working 25 years in the chilling conditions of Canada, Stan was ready to embrace the beloved heat and moved the family to Las Vegas in October 2000, where he continued his pharmaceutical career with Vons. Stan remained in Vegas and worked closely with the Vons Pharmacy family for nearly 26 years. He held a job from the age of seven to seventy-one – a remarkable feat.
Even as Stan entered his seventies, he enjoyed staying active and could often be found biking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, reading a good book, or simply enjoying a McDonald’s seniors’ coffee with two cream/two sugar on the side. He was known for his steady work ethic, his dry sense of humour, his deep commitment to his family, and his ability to find a good deal. As a pharmacist, he took his work seriously, though he never missed a chance to joke and lift someone’s spirits. He was so inquisitive and was genuinely interested in people. He always took the time to ask questions and really get to know you; that meant a lot to those he knew.
Above all, Stan was a devoted father and a loving brother. He is survived by Corinne, his children, Chloe (Ryan), Leah, Kenna (Landon), and Michael (Julia). He is also survived by his siblings, Marge, Miriam (Bob), Robert (Bev), Sarah (Tom), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Cicely and Lyman Sadler, and brother-in-law, Boris Wlad.
Out of respect for Stan’s wishes, there will not be a formal celebration of life, but a simple gathering to come together, share our stories, and support each other as Stan would have done. He would have liked that… It will be held on April 28, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Los Prados Golf Clubhouse.
He will be forever loved and deeply missed.
