Stephen Craig Cavin finished his life hike on October 22, 2013, after a short and fierce battle with cancer. Born March 11, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska, he is survived by his parents, M. Janece and Dr. William J. Cavin, Jr.; sister, Rhonda (Marvin) Gross; brother, James (Kristine) Cavin; and nephews, Douglas, Emory and Robert Cavin, as well as dear friends, Mark, Anna, Isis, and Carter Piccillo of Berkeley, California. Stephen was wise, kind and loving, a brilliant historian, humanist, philosopher, and student of Southwest Native American culture. His passion was hiking in Red Rock and Mount Charleston, music, good science-fiction and reading Spinoza and the Existentialist. He will be constantly missed. No services are scheduled.
