Thomas (Tom) Matthew Ray Chavez, 50, of Las Vegas, died Monday, February 23, 2015. A beloved father, brother, friend and uncle, born Nov. 5, 1964, in Belen, NM. Tom relocated from Los Lunas, NM to Las Vegas in 1987, where he welcomed and raised his two children, Brandon and Chantel. Tom was a loyal friend and co-worker at Precision Electric for 28 years and was a Christian and an active member of Cornerstone Church. He loved to spend time with his family, go camping and fishing, and regularly visited Mirror Lake, Utah. Tom never met a stranger and extended the hospitality in his heart to everyone he met. Tom is survived by his son, Brandon, of Oregon; and his daughter, Chantel, of Las Vegas; his parents, Sam and Isabel Gutierrez, of Velarde, NM; and his two sisters, Lisa Gutierrez and Yolanda Griego; and three brothers, Andrew Chavez, Elias Chavez and Bruce Chavez of NM. Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Chavez; his natural father, Edwin Chavez; and his grandfather, Eloy Perea. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28th at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, 5825 El Dora Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89146.
