Thomas “Tommy” Renard Grayson of Las Vegas, Nevada transitioned on August 30, 2018 in Las Vegas Nevada, surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Joyce Grayson.
Tommy was a career firefighter/paramedic and was employed with the Las Vegas Fire Department for over 27 years. He responded to several critical incidents to include the MGM fire and PEPCON explosion. In 2000, he was recognized as Paramedic of the Year. Tommy truly found joy in helping others, especially family and friends.
Before joining the fire department, Tommy attended culinary school. He loved the mountains and oceans and led an adventurous life, traveling abroad and skiing in Switzerland. One of his passions was taking road trips on this Harley Davidson with friends and he enjoyed the Laughlin River Run every year. One of his favorite past times was listening to smooth jazz and he enjoyed attending jazz festivals.
Tommy is survived by his children Miesha Wilson of Las Vegas, Thomasine “Shanel” Grayson of Las Vegas, Raquel “Rocky” Grayson of Atlanta, Marcus Grayson of Las Vegas, and Krystle “Kryssy” Grayson of Las Vegas; grandchildren Julian Sample Grayson and Meigan, Passion Finks, and Tamera Williams of Las Vegas great-grandchildren Jaiden Sample, Madden Sample, and Jeremy Overton Jr. of Las Vegas; siblings Roy Grayson and Brenda of Rialto, Samuel “Jerry” McCauley and Yolanda of San Diego, Patrica Grayson of Las Vegas, Valerie Cook and Gilbert of Las Vegas, Cynthia Grayson of Detroit, and Julia Graham of Las Vegas; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Tommy was loved dearly and will be missed by many.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada 89131 on Friday, September 7 at 1:00 PM.
