Tonya Cheryl Madison

Tonya Cheryl Madison (Griffin) 53 of Las Vegas, NV, formerly Jeffersonville, IN was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 1, 2016. Tonya passed away at Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. Tonya was born at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS to Larry Griffin and Carol Griffin (Sharp) on September 5, 1962. She attended Casey County High School in Liberty, KY and graduated in 1980. Tonya went on to earn a degree in Psychology at Campbellsville College, attended Eastern University, and earned her teaching certificate and Master’s Degree while attending the University of Louisville and Indiana University Southeast. Tonya met Rick and they were married on Friday February 13, 1987 in Louisville, KY. Tonya taught math and social studies at River Valley Middle School in Jeffersonville, IN until her illnesses forced her to take disability. Tonya loved her students and the staff at RVMS. She loved to plan and take trips with her family especially Disney World and Hawaii her two favorite places. She liked to work word puzzles and read, and loved her pets. She loved going to the Theatre and concerts of all types. She was a strong supporter of all U.S.A. military personnel and first responders. Tonya is survived by her husband Rick, daughter Danielle (Cody), grandchildren Hadleigh, Ryder and soon to be born Carson. Also survived by daughter Tiffany, grandchildren Destany, Alexus and Haylea. Brothers Lew (Cathy), Tom (Emily) and Matt, dad Larry (Sue) and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a whole lot of friends that were always in her heart. Her pets that she loved dearly Trinity and Bo and grandpets Belle, Dobey and Luna. Tonya is preceded in death by her mother Carol, dad Jerry Gregory.
