Vincent James Calogero, Jr., 52, passed away after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, April 13, 2014. He was in the comfort of his own home with his loving and devoted wife by his side as well as other cherished family members. Vinnie’s courage, determination, and positive outlook while he battled his disease were an inspiration to all. Vinnie was grateful for all the loving family and friends who were by his side giving him strength every step of the way. Special homemade meals prepared with love by his mother-in-law and a helping hand around the yard from his father-in-law meant more than words can say. He was born on February 22, 1962, in Syracuse, NY. At the age of 16, he moved to Las Vegas, NV and attended Las Vegas High School. Later, while enrolled at UNLV, he developed a passion for the Culinary Arts. He remained passionate about fine food and wine throughout his life. Vinnie started his gaming career over 30 years ago at the Horseshoe Casino. He moved on to The Rio Hotel and Casino, where he met his wife Stacy. From there they started their real estate careers at Prudential Americana Group, for over a decade, where they were a dynamic duo. He spent his last 9 years at Wynn Las Vegas, whom he considered his second family; where they treated him with only love and respect. In return, Vinnie’s family will always hold a special place in their hearts for the amazing acts of kindness that came from the people at The Wynn. Vinnie was always admired for his tremendous work ethic and drive to provide for his family. Vinnie’s dearest passions included a love of travel with his family and an enjoyment to support the Runnin’ Rebels. This inspired him to take on a new adventure of being on the court and in the action refereeing basketball. But nothing gave him more pride than being front and center in his daughter, Kaylie’s, life. Although he always worked several jobs, Kaylie’s endeavors and accomplishments were always his top priority. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Stacy and his 9 year old daughter, Kaylie, whom he deeply adored. Many extended family members and treasured friends survive him as well. Vinnie’s most precious memories were time spent with family and friends in Maui, Hawaii, which he chose as his final resting place. Vinnie was a loving husband, a devoted father, and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be from 4PM-6PM on Wednesday, April 23 at Palm South Jones Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones, Las Vegas, NV 89146. A memorial service will be at 6PM followed by a small reception. A special thank you to UCLA Medical Center, St. Rose Hospital and Nathan Adelson Hospice. The encouragement given to Vinnie will always be appreciated. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Kaylie’s Education Fund via www.thecalogerofamilyfund.com.
