

Yolanda LaNese Hollins was born on June 18, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, to Tom Benjamin Hollins and Lana Mae Fulton. From an early age, Yolanda’s warmth, compassion, and radiant smile brought joy to everyone she encountered. She carried a spirit of kindness and strength that touched countless lives throughout her journey.
Yolanda attended Marian Anderson Elementary in Compton, California, where she graduated and went on to complete high school in Perris, California. Yolanda attended Southwest Community College as a part-time student, where she learned shorthand, accounting principles, and typing. She was inspired to become a court reporter, but instead began her career at the tender age of eighteen working for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services, where she worked for more than 25 dedicated years. She served with dedication and pride.
Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence earned her the respect of her colleagues. She continued to serve faithfully until her untimely passing as an early retiree.
Outside of her professional life, Yolanda found joy in the simple pleasures that reflected her vibrant soul. She loved to fish and found peace in the stillness of the water. She had an appreciation for fine dining and was known for her exceptional culinary talents. Inspired by her favorite cooking shows, she could recreate gourmet dishes with her own special twist of flavor and love.
Yolanda’s life was a testament to love, strength, and grace. Her laughter, wisdom, and caring nature will be remembered and celebrated by all who were blessed to know her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her legacy lives on through the countless hearts she touched.
Yolanda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Tom Benjamin Hollins and Lana Mae Hollins, and her cherished son, Nyron Barlow. She leaves to cherish her beautiful spirit her devoted husband, Lavelle Lorenzo Thomas of Compton, California; her loving children, Shaunte Hollins, Portia Ealy, and Marques Barlow; her dear sisters, Lydia Hollins and Treva Hollins; her loving brother, Micheal Hollins. She also leaves to cherish her grandchildren: Christian Holly, Xzayvier Holly, Jaeden Hyde, Morgan Hyde, Maya Barlow, Chantan Ealy, Paxtyn Ealy, Melrose Barlow, and great-great granddaughter Layana Holly, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
A memorial service for Yolanda will be held Friday, November 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. Following the memorial service will be a a celebration of life memorial reception from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
