Carol Joy Lewin was born on December 20,1960 in Kingston Jamaica. She was the second child of Fitz and Valda Lewin. Carol spent her early years in Vineyard Town, where she attended Rollington Town Primary School. Carol discovered her musical talent in primary school where she learned to play the recorder. In 1972 at age 12 Carol obtained a scholarship to St. Hugh’s High school, an all girls high school. Carol was very active during her high school years. She swam, played netball and was an integral part of the field hockey team. She was also a part of the drama club and the Interact Club. After graduating from high school, Carol gave birth to her only child Adrian Pantry. She then attended the University of the West Indies(UWI) School of Nursing. Carol graduated as a registered nurse. She worked for a few years at the Bustamante Children’s hospital before migrating to the United States. Carol lived in Queens NY for most of her life. She worked at Lennox Hill hospital for many years before leaving to work as a trauma nurse at Mary Immaculate Hospital. She spent many years as a loving wife and mother. Carol decided to move to Georgia in 2008, where She worked both at Emory; and then Hillandale. Carol worked hard as a caring Registered Nurse for more than 40 years, but decided to stop for issues with health. On July 25 2020, we lost a beautiful, gracious and loving soul who will sit with us all for a lifetime until we meet again.

I met Carol in Nursing school at University Hospital of the West Indies Kingston Jamaica W.I. in 1981,For the first year of school we were roommates. We formed a bond in those formative years.
Life happens and for years we didn't see each other but when we reconnected it was like old times.
My roommate, you will be missed. Adrian ,be strong. We are praying for you and the family.
I will always remember her smile and how she embraces people.
Sleep on my roommate!! May your soul rest in eternal peace!!
To the family, God is able to see you all through this very difficult time!! Trust God even when you cannot see where he is leading!!
You are all in my prayers 🙏.

To Adrian and the rest of the Lewin family, my deepest sympathy for your loss. In the midst of your pain and sorrow, please be comforted that God always picks the best rose from the garden og life. Carol was a beautiful and precious rose.It is hard to grasp the fact that Carol has left us so soon. Carol was my neighbor in Nursing School. We shared many fond memories over those 3 years that will remain etched in my heart forever. Carol and I spoke about a month ago and we could not wait to meet up, if not for Covid restrictions.
My friend, daughter and batch-mate, I will miss your voice and winning smile. I will miss you, but you will be in my heart forever. Rest well Carol, until we meet again.

Sincere condolences to Adrian and the rest of the family. Carol, along with my dearest Marlene (Shaw), was a sister to me also. I have many fond memories of life with this beautiful and pleasant lady, especially throughout nursing school (I would need a whole book to share). Currently holding back the tears while writing. However, I feel more for Adrian her pride and joy. Be comforted in her memory Adrian.
RIP Dear Friend.

Deepest condolences to the family.
I actually graduated from Nursing School with Carol and we have remained friends through all these years.
Carol was a warm, loving and friendly person. Always giving advice to her younger friends....Shaw and Bonnie.
In nursing school the three of us were like sisters.
She adored Adrian and spoke highly of her Son.
I will truly miss those phone calls. Just talking about those days in Nursing School.
May my dear friend RIP.

Mom I miss you so much, every morning when I get up it’s like a dream that you won’t be here with me, and for a brief second I think to myself ; who am I gonna drive crazy and mess with now?,who am I gonna go thrifting and go to Costco with now?!You are my super hero, you are my strength and the greatest mom in the world. You are so unique and beautiful and my every moment will be to celebrate and honor your memory.

My name is Angela, my condolences to the family. I worked with Carol at Hillandale now Emory Hillandale hospital. She was an excellent nurse and a great friend. Carol was so funny she always made me laugh. The last time I spoke with Carol, was a few weeks ago. She called my land line pretending to be a bill collector. We could not stopped laughing, reminiscing on the crazy things we used to do at work to get us through the night and talked about our families. I miss you Carol. You was a dear friend. I’m still in shock.
