Born on January 9, 1968, in Atlanta, GA, Ervin was the beloved son of the late Ervin Turner Sr. and Shirley Ann Davis Turner. As a child, he found joy in spending time with his cousins and friends, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1986, setting the foundation for a strong work ethic.
From an early age, Ervin knew he was destined to be an entrepreneur. He successfully built several transportation businesses, but his true passion was realized when he became the proud owner-operator of KAK Trucking, a company named after his first three grandchildren. Trucking was not just a career for Ervin, it was his calling. Every day on the road brought him joy, and he took great pride in his work. Alongside KAK Trucking, he also contributed his talents at Lazaroo and Tyler Perry Studios.
Beyond his career, Ervin found happiness in the simple things. He loved watching movies, listening to Hip Hop and old-school music, and appreciating the beauty of the world as he traveled. He often spoke of how breathtaking the countryside was and had a deep admiration for nature, especially birds. Ervin enjoyed the friendly competition of playing pool and camaraderie the game brought.
One of the greatest bonds in Ervin’s life was the one he shared with his father. They spoke for hours each day, sharing stories, wisdom, and laughter. However, Ervin’s greatest wish was to have a family of his own, a wish that came true when he married his beloved wife, Dawn, in 2021. Their love and partnership brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Ervin leaves behind a loving legacy through his family: his devoted wife Dawn, his children Atreus Turner, Kymnicka McPherson (Omar), and Sincere Chandler, and his brother Jesse Foster (Ileana). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Kasia, Kamran, and Kailah McPherson; Aniya, Ayden, and Amir Turner, all of Georgia. His family circle includes his brother-in-laws Andre McElvey (Genille) of Georgia and Marlon Parker (Gabby) of Maryland and the late Jamal McElvey, nephews Jace Foster, Jaden, and Justin McElvey, and a bonus mother, Mildred Ray.
Ervin was blessed with lifelong friendships and close cousins who became like brothers: Geroy, Lonnie, Kay, and Andre, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Though Ervin’s journey on this earth has come to an end, his love, warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family and friends will forever be cherished. His passion for his work, and his kindhearted spirit will forever be remembered. May he rest in eternal peace.
