James Neil Ragland

He was born in Louisville, KY on August 21, 1975. He was the son of Kenneth Neil Ragland and Jennie James Ragland.

Neil was a 1993 graduate of Apollo High School and a member of Owensboro Christian Church. For the last 25 years, he lived in Atlanta, GA where he was self-employed.

Neil was preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandparents, Thurman and Mabel Porter Ragland; his maternal grandparents, Donald James and Beulah Reeves James Hajek; and his beloved “Papa” Clement Hajek.

He is survived by his mother, Jennie James Ragland of Owensboro, KY; his friends and caregivers Alex Clabo and Craig Ashmore and his best boy Skipp, his dog.

Also his mother wanted to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the many friends who stood by Neil during his courageous battle with cancer: Michael Adams, Michael Carter, Makiri Duckett, Andy and Kristin Hurwich and their son Ethan Hurwich, Douglas Lee, Matthew Davis, Lynn Allen, Eileen Cagle, and Eric Hawkins. Your unwavering love and support meant the world to Neil and his family. The family also wishes to thank the many others who contributed through donations, visits,calls,and prayers. Your kindness and generosity have been a source of great comfort during this difficult time.

Neil's nurse remarked " That it was rare and wonderful to see the amount of friends who came to show their love and support to Neil. The dedication that someone stayed with him at all times while in the hospital speaks volumes as to the special person Neil was and how he must have treated and loved his friends." .

A memorial service for James will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home And Cremation Services, 500 Harbins Road, Lilburn, GA 30047.
