

Jerald Edward Lynch, 89, passed away early Saturday morning, November 11, 2023 at his home in Alpharetta, GA, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born March 31, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to John Joseph & Caroline Krieman Lynch. Not long after the death of his father in 1942, Jerry became a member, a soprano, in Father O’Malley’s world renowned Paulist Choristers of Chicago. Jerry attended St. Gregory High School in Chicago, Class of ‘55, and later joined the United States Army, stationed at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. Jerry met Jeanmarie Buedel, his wife of 61 years at the wedding of Don Haskins, Jerry’s oldest friend and Army buddy, and Sharon Dundas, Jean’s cousin and high school classmate. Jerry was a career employee of the AC Nielsen Company, rising through the ranks beginning in the computer room and retiring at the age of 55 as Vice President Marketing Research. Post retirement, Jerry began a second career at The Home Depot sharing his wisdom in the countless trials of home maintenance and repair. The Lynch household was a social hub throughout their married years as Jerry and Jean loved hosting and entertaining friends and colleagues, their home was also later to become the central gathering point for the growing families of their children during the holidays. Jerry loved his family dearly and demonstrated a special, devoted love for his wife Jean, as she battled a long-term illness, personally providing the care-giving she needed up through Jean’s passing in 2020.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Caroline Lynch; his brothers John Jr. (Patricia), James (Suzanne) and sisters Margaret (James) Rottman and Joan (Leonard) Gersky; and daughter-in-law Joyce (John).
Jerry is survived by his children John (Janet), Elizabeth “Beth” (Chris) Owens, William “Billy” (Kimberly) and Robert “Bobby” (Khanh). Grandchildren Faith (Eli) Yewdall, Justin, Caitlin (Nicklaus) Morrow, Kristin (Jon Wright), Andrew (Karen) Anderson, Adam Anderson, Sean Daniels, Joshua, Tyler, Kara, Nick, Peyton and Erin; great-grandchildren Zia & Ada Yewdall, Emma Palmer, Lennox & Isabella Daniels, AJ (Alexis Joyce) Morrow; and many, many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place in the spring of 2024 at Honey Creek Woodlands at the Monastery of The Holy Spirit, 2625 Highway 212 SW, Conyers, GA 30094. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NAA - National Aphasia Association; aphasia.org.
