We bid farewell to Sydney Herman Parker - father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend - who left us on October 12, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity. His final moments were spent peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Sydney walked through life with a gentle strength and touched the lives of those he encountered with humor and humility.
He was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica on August 17, 1940. Later, he became a police officer and loved to speak about it with anyone who would listen. Sydney and Maud met and got married in April 1965 and continued their marriage until she predeceased him in 2017. Their reunion comes with another heartbreak two weeks ago.
As his children, the leader of our band grew tired but his blood runs through his instruments and his song is in our souls. We hope our lives will be a humble attempt to imitate this man. We pray to be the living legacy of the leader of our little band.
