

Barney Coleman Lee, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Born on March 19, 1944, in Hopewell, VA, he was the son of the late Addie Coleman Lee and Newell Bonnie Lee. His brother, Donald Earl Lee, and daughter, Bonni Lynn Lee Blackburn, preceded him in death.
Following high school, Barney joined the US Army where he served during the Vietnam era. He received his Bachelor of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Barney was the Director of Parks and Recreation with Prince George County, VA for 30 years before his retirement.
A former member of Hopewell Baptist Church, in Hopewell, VA, Barney became a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church after moving to North Myrtle Beach.
While living in Virginia, Barney met Connie Williams at Richmond Shag Club in 1997. Their love of shag dancing and the beach brought them to North Myrtle Beach for many years until they moved here full time in 2014. He loved golf, walking, dancing, the beach, cars, most sports, and blondes. His most endearing qualities were his unassuming personality; “ocean blue” eyes; quick wit; sweet, fun-loving charm; and, of course, his very special smile.
Surviving him is his fiancé, Connie Williams; his son, Christopher Newell Lee; grandchildren, Camden Ray Lee and Cody Tinnell; and a host of amazing, loving, and supportive friends.
A memorial service will be held at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, 410 6th Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach, SC on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be,
