In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Mitchell (Justin); son, Clarence “CJ” Mitchell; grandchildren, Kingsley and Kacey Harris. She is also survived by her brothers, Van Sisson (Susan Sisson) and Steve Carr (Angie) as well as numerous dear and treasured aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cathi was raised an Army brat, and just as the official flower of the army, (the dandelion), she put down roots anywhere and dropped seeds wherever she went! Cathi was proud to be her father’s child! As an adult, Cathi called Virginia home and quickly found a love of the Washington Capitals and the Washington Redskins. Celebrating a victory of either team was always a great day for Cathi.
Cathi worked with the Hopewell County Public School System as a bus driver for many years. She met and fell in love with Derrick Carr ten years ago. They enjoyed traveling and were blessed to move to North Myrtle Beach in 2020. Her love of the beach allowed her to collect shells, walk the beach, and watch for the sea turtles. She worked with Horry County Public School District as a bus driver for three years before becoming too ill to work.
Cathi’s greatest passion was her family. She was a loving daughter, mother, significant other, and with the birth of her grandchildren, she became the most dedicated grandmother she could be. When speaking of those she loved, she would light up the room. She was always positive, always smiling, and always talking! Her voice, sunshine, love, and friendship were a blessing that will be forever remembered and greatly missed. She loved big and was loved even bigger.
For years she attended Destination Church, and there was no doubt that throughout this illness, Cathi kept the faith.
A service will be held in Virginia at a later date.
