

DUE TO EXPECTED INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE FAMILY HAS RESCHEDULED THE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR CINDY POWELL. SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2 PM, FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 2022 IN LEE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FOR ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE.
Cindy Ruth Powell, 72, of Carolina Shores, NC passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
She was the best friend of Kathleen Kolasky.
Cindy was born on May 17, 1949 in Beaver Falls PA. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Williams) Powell. She was a graduate of Wilson High School in Youngstown, OH in 1967.
In her twenties, Cindy was a professional bowler and won a number of tournaments including the 1975 Queens Tournament Champion of the Women’s International Bowling Congress. She held a number of jobs, but spent the most of her career working in quality control for Evenflow in Ravenna, OH.
Retiring to the Carolinas in 2007, through travel and golf she made new and lasting friendships. Cindy was an active member of the Diamonds Ladies Golf League at Diamondback Golf Course, since the league began in 2016. Cindy loved her Diamonds. She worked with others to build the best golf league that brought so many wonderful ladies together.
In addition to her parents, Cindy is predeceased by her brother, Harold A. Powell and his wife, Teru Powell. She is survived by her best friend Kathleen Kolasky and the ladies of the Diamonds Ladies Golf League.
A celebration of life service will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday January 28, 2022 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 11840 Highway 90, Little River SC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
