Claire Hawken

Claire H. Hawken, 93, passed away April 9, 2025, at her home in Little River SC with her daughter Patricia,(Troy Scott), Pastor Christine by her side. Claire was born in Westwood NJ June 28,1931 to John and Elizabeth Pelsang. Claire attended Pascack Valley High school in NJ. We also had a huge farm stand in Woodcliff Lake NJ that both Claire and my Dad loved working at it. In 1971, Claire moved to Norwich NY with her family and loved it up here. Claire was employed by Spring Valley Phone Company, C & U,. Contel, Frontier Telephone company (changed many names over the years) for 47 years. She was an operator and then supervisor.

She was loved by many people. After retiring, she enjoyed her gardening, going antiquing and her home. She knew the name of every flower there was. She also loved all the animals we had which were many (Goats, chickens, rabbits,ducks, cats). She also loved going on trips with her daughter, Patti, which the casino, antiquing, Arizona and Mexico were her favorites. She loved life and was full of energy.

Claire was the kindest person you would ever meet. She was always helping out the shelters, maybe adopting a cat,or helping her friends anytime they needed it . She would give the shirt off her back to anyone that needed it. She will be dearly missed by many. She had the most precious and caring heart.

Claire is survived by her daughter Patricia, (Troy Scott),her precious kitty Princess, Lana her granddog, Nancy and Donald White NC, Carol Pelsang NJ, Margie Mann Tucson Az, Robert Pelsang NC, Jonathon and Bethann Pelsang Preble NY, Jeff Pelsang TX, Donna Pelsang NJ, Sherri Pelsang Ho NJ , David Pelsang NC0, many other nieces and nephews, also wonderful friends and neighbors in NY, Brenda and Mat Thall, Mary Jane Gohl Syracuse NY, Mike Mirabito and Jim Baker .

Claire is predeceased by both parents, her daughter Diane Hawken, her husband Warren, her brother John Pelsang, and brother Robert Pelsang .

We will be having a celebration of life for Claire May 3rd 12pm in Little River SC.
