Deborah was born and raised in Gastonia, NC. Married to Ralph Rhyne, she worked for many years as bookkeeper and secretary for the business they owned together- Kings Mountain Textile Machinery. Deborah later worked at Colliers International and Roy White’s Flowers in Charlotte. She later was a real estate agent in Myrtle Beach for the Litchfield Company, Dreamlife Reality, and Century 21.
Deborah was thrilled to move to North Myrtle Beach later in her life. She adored the sunshine, warm weather, outdoor dining, and the ocean views. Deborah loved sharing these things enthusiastically with her many real estate clients over the years. She married Michael Oliver in 2014 in North Myrtle Beach.
Deborah was an active member for many years in the West Avenue Presbyterian Church in Gastonia and at Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach. During her lifetime, she had been an active volunteer for her churches, Meals on Wheels, and as a Brownie Scout leader. She especially enjoyed decorating for the annual Festival of Tables fundraiser, preparing food for the Master’s Meals for the needy and fundraising to provide shoes for African children at Trinity United Methodist.
Deborah was quick to laugh and made friends easily everywhere she went. She will be missed for her laughter, her easy going spirit, her perfect fried okra, and most of all, for her unconditional love for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Rhyne and Sara Smith, their spouses, and one grandson. Her husband Michael Oliver who passed away in 2020 precedes her in death.
A memorial service for both Deborah Rhyne and Michael Oliver will be held on Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day) at 10:30am at Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach. The service will be streamed online by the church for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Trinity United Methodist Church.
