

Doris May Harcar, 90, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2022 at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center.
Born on November 10, 1931 in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mazie Nichol Howard.
Mrs. Harcar graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1949, and worked for New Jersey Bell for 40+ years in Ewing Township, Cranford and Freehold, NJ.
Upon moving to Saltaire Village in Calabash, NC in 1998, Doris joined “Stitch & Bitch”, a group that made and stuffed over 1,000 Salty Bears that were given to local police and firemen. In addition, each year the group adopted a family at Christmas and bought bicycles for as many children as their funds would allow. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Morris (David) of Little River, SC and Mary Jo Freda (Russell) of West Trenton, NJ; one son-in-law, John Friel of Langhorne, PA; five grandchildren, Sarah Litton (Bill) of Wynnwood, PA, Anthony, Nicholas, Zach, and Jeremy Freda, all of West Trenton, NJ; and one great grandchild, Jonah Litton. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul Harcar; one daughter, Collen Friel; and three brothers, Charles “Chick” Howard, LeRoy “Lee” Howard, and Richard “Skeeter” Howard.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
