

Ed Williams died peacefully on Saturday, October 16, at 8:09 AM, at 82 years of age. He was in the presence of his daughter Katherine and son Stuart Williams. In addition to daughter and son, his brother Mac Williams, sister Leah Rose Williams, granddaughter Keira Williams, and two stepsons, Gordon Lavender and Charlie Lavender survive him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Williams.
Ed had a profound experience on everyone he met, enriching the lives of many. He maintained several lifelong friendships, such as that with his former copilot and best friend Mike Smith and his wife, Amy.
Following his 1961 graduation from Eastern Carolina University, Ed served as navigator and bombardier in the Air Force from 1961 to 1966. While he was stationed in England, and met and later married Frances Bellin, who is the mother of his two children.
Ed had a broad diversity of hobbies: sailing, racing cars, health & fitness, investing, snowboarding, and many others. He also actively participated in the Guardian ad Litem program, which advocates for disadvantaged youth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Legion Post #186, Little River.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the American Legion Post #186, Little River.
