Beth passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and special friends after suffering for two years from a very rare form of cancer, Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma. She is predeceased by her parents, Diane Carter Barnhill Johnson and Dillon J. Barnhill, both of the North Myrtle Beach area, her father-in-law, Erik Scrivens of Canada, her sister-in-law, Valerie-Anne Scrivens, her grandparents and many other loved ones... She is survived by her wonderful husband of 25 years, Kurt; and their precious daughter Brooke; her two sisters Tracie (Roy Johnson) and Allison (Jim Maple), along with many nieces and nephews, Trae, Alexandra, Thomas, Lane, Landon, Weston and Landen and a great niece, Emma; her stepfather, Ted Johnson of North Myrtle Beach, mother-in-law, Marion Scrivens of Perth Canada; and many aunts, uncles. She is also survived by so many special honorary brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, along with numerous cousins, beloved family members and friends.
Beth was raised in North Myrtle Beach SC, graduated from North Myrtle Beach High School. She attended Coastal Carolina University, then later transferred and graduated from the University of SUNY Brockport in Brockport NY with her BA in Psychology.
In 1992 Beth and Kurt moved to Rochester, NY and began a software company, digitizing maps throughout the United States. In 2004 (after they decided to sell the company) they chose to relocate back to the North Myrtle Beach area. When Brooke got a bit older, Beth decided to go back to work, and called CresCom Bank in Myrtle Beach her home away from home. Beth had an extended family at the bank; loved everyone she worked with, and felt a bond with many customers that walked in the doors.
She was a proud, active member of Living Water Baptist Church and loved to talk about the wonderful messages and Spirit filled environment that was always ever present. Her relationship with God along with her love for our Lord Jesus Christ is what gave her the strength to fight her cancer. Even in Beth’s final days, the only thing on her mind was the many loved ones she was leaving behind. Her love was boundless.
The family wishes to say a special thank you to her specialized medical teams at MUSC and Grand Strand Medical Center, as well as the magnificent caregivers at Agape Hospice of South Carolina.
Beth was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend... She will be fondly remembered and missed by all that knew her. She was truly a beautiful Soul...
We ask that you join us for 'A Celebration of Life' at Living Water Baptist Church, Saturday, November 14th with visitation beginning at 11am, the service at noon, immediately followed by the procession to the Mt. Leon family cemetery, and fellowship back at the church.
