Frances A. “Fran” McDonnell, 79, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Conway Medical Center after an extended illness.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church columbarium.
Fran was born in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late James V. and Mae Volz Parell. Fran graduated from Nazareth Academy in Philadelphia and later had been employed with TJ Maxx in Feasterville, PA, where she served as head cashier and trainer of new employees for new stores opening. Fran was very active in community affairs in Feasterville, also served as President of the Mother’s Club at Arch Bishop Wood High School for Girls, and organized fund raising events. Fran was a member of the Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, where Fran and Jack were active in Pre-Cana, Marriage Encounter and many other activities. After relocating to North Myrtle Beach, she became a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and also was employed at the Visitors Center at Broadway at the Beach.
Fran was a very devoted and loving wife and mother showing devotion and passion. Her memory will always be cherished by Jack.
Fran is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John “Jack” McDonnell; sons, John J. McDonnell, Brian J. (JoAnne) McDonnell and Gregory (Beth) McDonnell; daughters, Karen Lee (Jim) Drakos and Kathleen (Jim) O’Callaghan; granddaughters, Nicole O’Callaghan, Melanie McDonnell, Samantha McDonnell, Madison McDonnell and Jade McDonnell; grandsons, James Ryan O’Callaghan, Brian McDonnell, Joseph McDonnell, Justin Drakos and Eric Drakos; brother, James Parell; sister, Nancy Creeden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Visitation Monastery, PO Box 432, 14 Beach Rd., Tyingham, MA, 01264.
