Gerard McDermott

Gerard (Jerry) McDermott, age 69, of Little River, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. Born in Staten Island, New York, on June 29, 1955, he was a son of the late Charles and Marie McDermott.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan McDermott; son, Gerard Patrick McDermott (Beth); grandchildren, Conor, Joseph, Kylee Anne, Carter Charles; brothers, Patrick McDermott (Suzanne), Richard McDermott (Sandra), Dennis McDermott (Denise); along with his canine companion, Roxie.

Originally from New York, Gerard was raised in Valley Stream. He was extremely gifted when it came to technology, and he had a long successful career in IT. He and his wife Joan moved to Montclair, Virginia from New York, then moved to Little River in 2019 to enjoy retirement. Gerard loved bowling and fishing. He was an avid gun enthusiast.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Interment will immediately follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens.
