

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Lee Funeral Home at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. A reception will follow the service at the Little River Elks Lodge #2840 Hwy 57, Little River, SC.
Henry was born in Springfield, MA on August 31, 1951. He was the son of the late Frank and Katherine (Wilkinson) Engel.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (Ware) Smith Engel; her daughter, Kristi (Bryce) Olson; her son Jason (Angie) Smith; her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; Henry’s son, Rob (Michelle) Engel; son, Colton Engel; daughter, Katie (Jay) Anderson; daughter, Jennifer (Fred) Supernant; 5 grandchildren; brother, Frank (Marie) Engel; sister, Kathleen Jackson; and 2 nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents along with his brother-in-law, George Jackson; father-in-law, Calvin E. Ware; and mother-in-law, Mary G. Ware.
Henry attended St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA. In May of 1995, he went on to graduate from Western New England College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Henry was an active member of the Elks for over 23 years. In the last 3 years, he served as secretary of the Little River Elks Lodge 2840 upon his move to SC in 2017.
Henry was a 4th degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus, which he obtained on April 14, 2013. Henry loved his New England Patriots. He started a club called “N.E. Patriot Fans” where fans from New England that moved to the Myrtle Beach area would get together at local sports bars each Sunday during football season to watch the Patriots play.
He had a passion for golf. Golf was his primary reason for relocating to South Carolina so he could play almost year round. Over 3 years ago, Henry went to work in the pro shop at Crown Park Golf Club. He later on became Crown Park’s marketing specialist.
Being such a loving, caring, kind and joyful man, Henry will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him. He will especially be missed by those who loved him endlessly. You were a stranger to Henry only once, then you became a friend for life.
