At a young age, Jim and his family moved to Peekskill New York. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School and attended college in New Hampshire. Jim was a tool and dye maker, a designing engineer for Kawasaki Rail cars and retired from BASF as a Maintenance Planner.
After a ten-year courtship, Jim and Anita married in April of 2006, in Fishkill, NY. In 2013 after spending several vacations in North Carolina visiting friends the purchased a second home and became permeant residents in North Myrtle Beach 2015. The two of enjoyed golfing and spending time together exploring the world.
Jim and Anita immediately joined Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and in 2016 he joined the Knights of Columbus. He was a Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator. Alongside with his wife he was a Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer with Caring Hearts. He was involved in raising monies for wells in Kenya and other African missions.
Surviving in addition to his wife Anita, are his sons, James LeVan, Justin LeVan, and daughter Anita Costa: Grandchildren, Finley, Brooke, Wyatt, Chase. Also surviving are his two sister, Deborah LeVan-Parker, and Robin LeVan-Ross. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Predeceased by his first wife Deborah, and their son Jared whose memories remained close to his heart.
James’s life was a testament to the power of humor, compassion, love, and dedication. His legacy will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Mass funeral will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church with entombment in the church columbarium.
