Mom, 
It's been 6 months since you left us and I am finally able to write this message. Dad has passed on and I'm sure you are both thrilled to be together again. Meanwhile, I am here missing you both but ever so grateful I had the two of you in my life. 
You provided me with the best upbringing. I learned how to be a loving and devoted wife and mother thanks to watching you.  I love thinking about our many shopping excursions especially to Star Store in downtown New Bedford. I loved our annual watching of the Sound of Music and how the boys would get so annoyed that they weren't able to watch tv on that night since it was GIRL'S NIGHT. I loved always knowing you were there. I miss that but I now feel your presence near me and it inspires me to be the best I can be. 
I love you. I miss you. I think of you constantly. AND, I am forever grateful for you.

I am so sorry for the loss of this beautiful sweet woman. I first came to meet Joanne and Roger through a caregiving position. Soon after it became more of a friendship than a job. I always looked forward to seeing them both and Lobo too!! I’m so happy I got to know her and be a part of her life. She made me feel like family.  Such a sweet soul and such a wonderful family! She will be missed greatly and remembered well. Sending my love to you, Joanne in heaven and to Roger and the rest of the family. You are in our prayers.

My dearest Mom, I have been thinking about the words I wanted to say. I've started to write this at least 10 times. I cannot tell you how much you will be missed how when I call you and Dad I will miss hearing your voice in the background as you are doing something in the kitchen as you always were. I will miss how you call me every time you prepare a steak. I will miss your infectious laugh whenever we joke around and pick on you or Dad. I promise you now as I promised you when we talked that Dad will be taking care of. I miss you I will miss talking to you and laughing with you.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Pothiers when they were needing some extra help after Joanne's surgery. From day 1 we became friends and they treated me like family. She was a tiny lady with the biggest heart. Even though I'm a southern gal and we had some communication issues we figured it out and had alot of laughs while doing so. I learned how to make American Chow mein (I think that was what it was called) and we got a good laugh when they ask for an antipasto salad and I looked at them like they were from Mars. I had never heard of it but Joanne talked me through it and it turned out pretty good. We had a lot of good times and I felt like I knew her family before I ever met them. I know she's in heaven watching over them all.  Our guardian angel. Prayers for the family and especially Roger, I've never seen a couple so close but with his strong family bonds eventually things will get easier. I will truly miss her but meeting her was a blessing and I will never forget her and the kindness shown to me. Rest in heaven Joanne we will see you again one day ❣️

Memories of my Aunty JoJo, all include my Uncle Roger,  
They have always been a team. 
I remember some little things along the way; salad with celery in it 😋, my Mom didn't put celery in salad, but aunty did.
There was a covered dish in the shape of a walnut that had spanish peanuts in it.
There is a picture of me drying dishes with Aunty Phyllis and Aunty Jojo with my mom washing them. This I am not sure I remember it, but I love the photo.
Later my Amanda wanted to write a paper in middle school about  her Uncle with a guide dog.
Uncle Roger was very gracious and sat for an interview with her.
What she learned was; the best thing that ever happened to him was meeting his wife Joanne. The worst thing was not the loss of his sight, it was the loss of his son Steven.
I remember the day both Aunty and Uncle came to Earle St. and getting out of the car to pick up the other children without a baby. When you are a child it makes a lasting impact on how you see a couple. 
"They say nothing last forever but you haven't seen us together, or they way the moonlight dances in her eyes.
I know there will be that moment, when the good Lord calls on of us home and one won't have the other by their side. But that last too long 'cause somethings last forever after all "
I think time in heaven must be different,
Aunty is there with Steven. ShAZe can walk with a strong back and breath deep without oxygen and she is waiting for Uncle Roger with a peaceful smile on her face.

Aunty Jo, you are missed. Thinking of my Uncle and cousins during this difficult time. One of my favorite memories is New Year’s Day at Aunty and Uncle’s in Rochester. Spending the day with family, joking, laughing, playing games and eating! Aunty must have cooked for days, my favorite was the pigs feet with little meatballs and gravy with Pepere Beaulieu’s Portuguese pops. 
Aunty Jo you will continue to be an inspiration to so many of us, you lived love.

Memere, 

I hold onto such fond memories growing up going to the Rochester house and eating dinner there. I always loved your cooking and will always think of you when I eat Angel food cake. You were loving and kind and I can still hear your laugh over the phone. I know you are always with me, love you Mem.

I have many great memories of my Memere, but my most fond memories are when I spent a summer with her and my Pepere when I was in college.
Memere loved cooking for her family and while I was there she always made me my favorite meals including crock pot chicken and 
carrots and turnips. During that summer I also got to go dancing with Memere and Pepere. I loved watching them dance together and see the joy on their faces. 
The funniest memory I have though, was when my Pepere was washing his car. Memere would rinse it off for him with the hose. One time during the rinsing process she squirted Pepere instead of the car. Pepere was surprised to say the least but Memere told him it was an accident. She then turned to me with a wink and a giggle. We both laughed quietly. 

Memere,

You were such a wonderful woman and someone I aspire to be like every day. You were strong, kind and giving with a deep love of our Lord. I hope to be as wonderful a wife and mother as you were all these years. I am going to miss you so very much, but I am so grateful we got to talk over the phone this past Wednesday. Rest in peace Memere as Jesus embraces you with His loving arms.

A most loving, selfless and admirable soul has moved on, leaving those close to her with inspiration to care for others the way that Memere did.  As a child, I was moved by Pepere's story of perserverance through diabetes, knowing that because of Mem beside him, he was able to push through life, happy, healthy, and with love all around.  Now as I age, I carry this story with me, so I can teach my future family what it means to be thoughtful and whole-hearted.  You will be missed and never forgotten, Mem.  I love you.

Joanne was such a strong lady! She never stopped. I have very fond memories of her in the kitchen in Rochester, whipping up all kinds of food. The girls and I loved her strawberries and sugar and her Portuguese Kale soup to name a few. I must have asked her ten plus times for the recipe as mine never tasted the same or  as good.
Her laugh was infectious and her welcome at the door when the five of us would roll in was always so loving.
We will miss her.

Memere was always a ray of sunshine. She welcomed everyone into her home with love and open arms. I remember all the weekends and holidays spent at her house in Rochester with my brothers, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and more. Some of my most treasured memories of childhood are among these. My wife Mackenzie and I are expecting our baby any day now. The more I think about these memories, the more it makes me want to raise our child with these strong family values.
You are forever in our hearts Memere. Your great grandchild will grow up knowing who you were.

Dear Memere,
The way you’ve always taken interest in my music speaks loudly. I can remember you and Pepere coming over the house when I was a child and always asking for me to play you something I was learning on the piano. This extended even to modern day where you would call after one of my UMass concerts and ask me to send you recordings. You were always in my corner. I still remember going to your house in Rochester and riding those old tricycles down your driveway over and over again or going into the garage to find gardening shovels to dig for rocks and worms in the front yard. I would always ask if you could make me and Mason your spaghetti and meatballs. There was something about them that I just loved! These are memories that I will have forever because of you and I can’t thank you enough for all the times you’ve made me smile thinking about them. I love you and rest in peace.

Meme, as I sat beside you on June 27th, many memories began to flow through my brain of my early childhood at the Rochester House: you patching up my split eyebrow, having to wake you up because I peed the bed, being scared of that tarnished silver crucifix of Jesus Christ, many delicious meals that you prepared, and so much more. Then I remembered all our trips to Myrtle Beach and the fun we had there: you falling over into the waves, your furry friend lobo entering the family, comments from you about the bojangles french fries I love. Transitioning into today, I now live here in SC and I’ve been BLESSED, absolutely blessed, to be able to have visited you and Pepe so many times within a year’s time. I now know I was brought here to be with you before you move into heaven. I love you Meme you were the sweetest, funniest, and most caring soul for your family.

Joanne, so much can be said...  You have touched many, many lives, sharing your kindness, generosity, support, and love, unconditionally. You remained incredibly steady and strong through all situations and have been the perfect partner, best friend, and loving wife to Roger.  Together, you established the foundation and provided the structure, guidance, and support to foster your children’s successes and well-being.  Your influence will never stop.  You are THE role model and will continue to guide all of us!

Mom I'm going to miss our daily talks with Dad. I miss you more than I can express. You told me when I left you a few weeks ago, when I had to return to work that you don't cry but your heart does. Our first summer home after moving to Florida we stayed with Aunty Jojo and Uncle Roger. It was the best summer ever. They both were so happy to have kids in the house again. Uncle Roger would lay on the stairs and call us downstairs. Through their marriage the love that they showed to each other was awe inspiring. I’m forever grateful for that special time playing cribbage, listening to music and walking Taffy together. She is missed beyond words.
