John Christensen

John T. (Jack) Christensen 74 of North Myrtle Beach, SC died August 2, 2017.

He is the son of the late Edward J. Christensen and Helen Schreiber Christensen, and was pre-deceased by his brother Robert and his daughter Jennifer.

He grew up in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Commerce High School in 1961. He served two years in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 stationed in Germany. He was employed as a Lieutenant firefighter for the Yonkers Fire Department from 1972 to his retirement in 1999. He also was employed with the U.S. Air Force N.G. for 18 years.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary Katherine, brothers Edwin Christensen (Susan) of Milan, NY and Harold Christensen (Wendi) of Bethel, CT; sisters-in-law Eileen Corrigan of Hicksville, NY, Patricia Wrede (Richard) of Centerport, NY, also, many loved nieces and nephews, and his loved god-daughter Kathleen.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church with Pastor Wilmont Merchant officiating.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society or North Strand Helping Hand @ 2501 Long Bay Rd., Longs, SC 29568.
