John Stephen Maykuth Jr.

John Stephen “Jack” Maykuth, Jr., 82, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 7, 1933 in Newell, PA, he was the son of the late John Steven and Mary Yatsko Maykuth, Sr.

Mr. Maykuth was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving as a Hospital Corpsman. He graduated from California University of PA in 1955, taught for 4 years in Connellsville, PA and earned his Master’s Degree at the University of WV in 1961. He taught for 30 years at Wheaton High School in Montgomery County, MD as a Science Resource teacher. He lived in Gaithersburg, MD for 37 years then moved to Ocean Isle Beach, NC in 1998.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jean Jones Maykuth; sister, Mary Ann Maykuth Swartz; 3 nieces, Vicky Mason, Stacy Grossi, Samantha Dunthy and one nephew, Michael Swartz.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
