John O. Powers Jr.

John “Jack” O. Powers, Jr., age 83, of Little River, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2023. Born on September 17, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he was a son of the late John O. Powers, Sr. and Rita Cullen Powers.

A graduate of Fordham University with a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Jack owned and operated two pharmacies in Exton, Pennsylvania. He started his career in pharmacy at the young age of twenty-two years old that led to a successful career. Jack moved to the Carolinas with his beloved wife Anna in 1995 and later retired in the early 2000’s. Jack was a member of St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Shallotte, North Carolina and he was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. In his free time Jack enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards with friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Ann Cummings Powers; daughter, Karen Powers-Brown; grandson, Michael J. Powers; granddaughter, Allison A. Brown; along with his sister, Ann Marie McCann (Bill). He was preceded in death by his parents along with his son, Kevin J. Powers; brother, James Powers and sister, Joan Powers.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 24, 2023 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Shallotte, North Carolina. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jack to Daylesford Abbey, 220 S. Valley Rd. Paoli, PA 19301.
