

It is with heavy hearts and many cherished memories, that we announce the passing of John David "JD" Simroth 63, of Little River, SC. Formerly from Decatur, Illinois. He entered heaven on November 26th 2025, at home, after a hard fought battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Trudi (Finch); his son, Russell Simroth (Kate) of SC; stepsons, Derrick Grimes (Amy) and Dustin Grimes (Laura) both from Illinois; his sisters, Cathy Walker of TN and Susan Wilson of FL. His Grandchildren, David, Haley, Zada, Raylee, Ra'layniee, Russell Jr. and Jaycee and one great-grandchild, Nayeli; along with several cherished nieces and nephews.
He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor his joyful spirit, kindness and unending generosity. He brightened up any room he entered.
He was a diehard sports fan devoted to the St Louis Cardinals, Boston Celtics, and the Chicago Bears. He was on the board for Pony Baseball and he coached his son's baseball teams for several years. One of his favorite joys, was golfing with his son Russell, and always competing at Ping Pong, Chess, backgammon, bags or darts. He found immense pride in spending time with his kids and grandkids.
John graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1980, then briefly worked at Firestone, he was 20 years with Decatur Township Cemeteries, Systems Enterprise Co. Keepin It Green and McLoud Trucking, and currently at Elixson Construction in NC.
John will be loved and missed by anyone he ever met in life, but we are at peace knowing he has joined his beloved mother and father, Anne and Carl along with his brother, Mike and his best friend, Benny Newton. We find peace in knowing that one day, we too, will see him again.
