

Born in Charlotte, NC he was the son of John York Wagoner, Sr. and Rose Hartsell Wagoner. Jack was the devoted husband of Barbara Hawkins Wagoner and loving father of 3 children.
Jack graduated in 1974 from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a minor in Theology. He was an active member of ATO Fraternity. Jack was a running back on Duke’s football team and ran track -- where he had a long standing record in 400m relay. He also did additional distribution courses at Texas A&M University in 1985. He graduated from Walter Hines Page High School in 1970. He was an achiever academically, and athlete throughout High School and University. He also trained and competed in the Pentathlon at the Olympic Development Clinic in 1968.
After almost 27 years with MSC Industrial Supply Company as the Government Program Manager, Jack retired in June 2021. During his time there he achieved the Sid’s Club award for outstanding sales achievement and helped shape the GSA 4PL Program.
Jack, Barbara and their children were members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. When they moved to Greensboro in 2000, they rejoined Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Reidsville, NC.
Their desire to be closer to Jack’s parents, and love of the beach brought them to North Myrtle Beach to retire. His hobbies included collecting guns, and going to the gun range. He was an avid music lover, especially classical and rock n roll. Passionate with his children in all outdoor sports including canoeing, kayaking, skiing(water and snow), soccer, football, track. He loved camping and hiking with his family and friends too. Jack was known by family and friends for his quick wit, infectious smile and his serenity.
Jack was preceded in death by an infant daughter Tiffany Marie. He is survived by: His parents, John Wagoner, Sr. and Rose Wagoner of North Myrtle Beach. His wife, Barbara Wagoner, of 44 years. His children, Shawn Wagoner (wife Marta), granddaughter Siena Rose, of Los Angeles. Aaron Wagoner (wife Erica) of Apex, NC. Jaclyn Wagoner of Cape Town, South Africa. A brother, Dean Wagoner of Southport, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm August 19, 2021 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Reidsville, NC. An hour before you may pay your respects to the family. The family requests all attending to have received the covid vaccine and/or require wearing a mask. After service, burial will be for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to either the American Cancer Center or Smyrna Presbyterian Church are requested by the family.
