

Joseph S. Breznay, 71, born November 27, 1945 in Cleveland, OH, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family and friends, on December 29, 2016 after a long battle with a rare form of cancer.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Karen Chapman Breznay; his cherished daughters, Natalie Kelley (Dan) and Celeste Rawlinson; grandchildren, Erin, Autumn, Riana, London, Bryan and Karis; great grandson, Maxwell; and many close friends.
Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Joseph and Teresa Breznay. In his earlier years, he was an auxiliary police officer for North Ridgeville, had a great passion for cars and became president of a Corvette club. He was actively involved in the community. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years, before fulfilling his lifelong dream of moving to South Carolina.
He took pride in everything he did, particularly his yard and home. He continued his passion for unique vehicles with the purchase of his Slingshot Motorcycle. His most enjoyable pastime was performing karaoke for family and friends where he became known in the community as the legendary “Sandman”.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday, January 3 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens.
