Joye A. Norris

Joye was born on July 12, 1947 in Marion, NC to Jane and Clint Norris, longtime business owners and community supporters in Cherry Grove.

She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Kentucky and her doctorate in counselor education at North Carolina State University. Joye’s life work was in adult education; she loved people, and she loved to help people teach and learn.

Joye is survived by her life partner of 37 years, Susan Madson; her children, Jennifer Davis (John), and Joda Bennett; her grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph (Jessica), and Jayden Davis; her brother, Charles H. Norris (Paula); and her niece, Carrie Norris (Jared). She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton H. Norris, and her mother, Jane A. Norris.
