Leon R Unterbrink

Born on August 20, 1949, in Ohio, Leon lived a life grounded in devotion to family and quiet strength. He was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, an accomplishment he carried with pride throughout his life.

Leon was the beloved husband of Mary Unterbrink. They were married on June 3, 1995, and shared many wonderful years together. They made their home in Fort Mill, South Carolina, before relocating to Little River, South Carolina in 2023 to be closer to Mary’s son and daughter-in-law and to enjoy time near the beach — a place Leon loved.

Mary, the love of his life, preceded him in death on December 24, 2024. Their bond was deep, and being reunited with her brings comfort to those who loved them both.

Leon found peace at the beach and joy in being surrounded by family. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence and the love he carried for the people closest to him.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Hildegard Unterbrink; his sisters, Joyce Schroeder and Anna Unterbrink; and his brother, Paul Unterbrink.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Joan Utendorf; his brothers, Ken Unterbrink and Larry Unterbrink; along with extended family and dear friends.

Leon will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
