Lila W. Hales

Lila was born July 6, 1945 in Marion, NC, the daughter of the late Bill and Helen Weatherman. Her husband Jim Hales preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son Mike Hales and wife Tippi of Clayton, NC; daughter Cindy Joyner and husband Mike of Franklinton, NC; sister Shirley Eason and husband Steve of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Summer Pilkington and husband Mike; Alan-Michael Hales; Zachary Joyner.

Lila spent many years working for The National Center for Health Statistics.

Lila and her companion Robert Mitchell moved to North Myrtle Beach in the spring of 2021. They enjoyed beach life and their condominium on the waterfront.

Lila was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching NC State women's basketball, her beloved New York Yankees and frequently attending her grandsons’ games. She loved to travel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Neuse River Racquet Club located at 45 Summit Overlook Dr., Clayton, NC 27527.
