Lionel D. Rajotte, Jr., age 77, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2025. Born on April 2, 1948, in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the beloved son of the late Lionel D. Rajotte, Sr. and Margaret (Blake) Rajotte.
Lionel proudly served his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1967. His military service took him to Orléans, France, and later to Vietnam, where he served as a Medical Corpsman. He was later called to duty during Operation Desert Storm and served at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, continuing a lifetime of care and dedication to others.
A devoted healthcare professional, Lionel was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist whose career spanned 51 years. He most recently retired from McLeod Regional Medical Center in Dillon, SC, where he served for 25 years with compassion, skill, and integrity.
Lionel was a man of many passions. He loved to travel—by sea, land, or air—and rarely went anywhere without a supply of his favorite cigars. His adventurous spirit was matched by a deep love for his family and his faith. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; son, Jason Bosserman of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Laila Rajotte of the home; sister, Linda (Bill) Conti of Sarasota, FL; and brother, Don Rajotte of Ranchos De Taos, NM. He also leaves behind three children from previous marriages—Keri, Michael, and Laura—as well as two cherished grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Lionel was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy and brother, David.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lionel’s name to the McLeod Seacoast Cancer Treatment & Research Center Healing and Hope Campaign, c/o McLeod Health Foundation, 3781 Sea Mountain Hwy, Little River, SC 29566, or online at: https://www.mcleodhealth.org/foundation/primary-areas-support/loris-seacoast-carolina-forest/healing-and-hope-campaign/
