

Mark Edward Hunt, 58, passed away on August 20, 2025, in Calabash, North Carolina. Born on January 19, 1967, in Peoria, Illinois, Mark lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his work, and his friends.
For 36 years, Mark worked as a floor installer—a career marked by diligence and craftsmanship. He retired in 2024 to enjoy a well-earned retirement alongside his childhood sweetheart and wife 40 years, Melinda. Their time together was filled with shared laughter, love, and the joy of watching their family grow.
Mark was a devoted father to his daughters Callee Smick and Amanda Hunt and his son Camron Hunt. His role as a grandfather brought him immense pride and happiness; he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren—Maddox, Parker, Elijah, and Olivia. Whether attending their activities or simply being present in their lives, Mark’s love for them was unwavering.
He is also remembered by his mother Sandra Hutchison; sister Ann Henry; half-brothers Timothy (Carrie) Hutchison and Christopher Hutchison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Arthur J. Hunt.
Those who knew Mark will remember him as a loving husband, a supportive father, an immensely loved grandfather, and a great friend and mentor. He had a gift for making people laugh and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His passions included motorsports, golf—both traditional and Frisbee—music of all kinds, Boston Celtics Basketball, Chicago Cubs Baseball and most of all, spending time with his family.
Mark’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his humor and kindness.
