Lizzie was born on April 15, 1975 (tax baby) in Knoxville Tennessee to Patsy Ganus and John Munsey. She grew up in Murrells Inlet, SC and the Myrtle Beach area, eventually settling in Little River for the last 18 plus years with her husband Ward. She graduated from Socastee High 1993.
After high school she worked in various retail jobs but found her niche in banking as a Myrtle Beach BB&T teller and then a Branch Manager for First Citizens in Socastee. On her very first day as a teller, her very first customer was Tony Hammock who ironically ended up becoming her father-in-law in 2005. From banking, she transitioned to insurance as an agent selling and writing homeowners’ policies. She began working with Beach Insurance of Myrtle Beach for 6 years and then Beach Benefits of Little River for 2 years.
The things that Lizzie cherished the most were her Family and Friends!! Every life she touched, she made them better people. She had a God given talent for brightening everyone’s life, being silly and the ability to make you laugh without even trying. She was also very unselfish, always thinking of others before herself.
She was a fiercely loving and dedicated wife of 15 years to her husband Ward Broom Hammock and mother to Joshua and Alyssa Hammock. Ward Broom Hammock married Elizabeth on August 19, 2005, in Little River, SC, in front of Coquina Harbour’s light house. Elizabeth and Ward were together 19 years and lovingly married for 15 years. As a funny and romantic note, Ward proposed to Elizabeth in drag, in front of a 1000 people at the humane society’s Sweety Pie Contest. Yes, he wore a green sequined dress with light up heels and a Dolly Parton wig. Talk about something special!
Mary Elizabeth Hammock is survived by her husband Ward Hammock of Little River SC; her step-children, son Joshua Anthony Hammock and daughter Alyssa Frances Hammock; brothers Joseph Thompkins and Dana King; mother Patsy Richeson Ganus: step-father Terry Ganus; uncle Floyd Richeson; half-brothers Karl and Ashley King; half-sister Stephanie Davis. Mary Elizabeth Hammock is preceded in death by her step-father, Wally King; grandmother Mary Richeson; uncle Micky Richeson; and close friend Jessica Gilland.
